Competent Person for Excavation and Shoring Training
Course Description
The content of the program includes the scope and application of Subpart P - Excavation Standard, definitions, general requirements for protective systems, soil classifications, and handling an OSHA inspection. The program is eight hours in length. Participants receive a standard manual and are expected to pass an open book test with a grade of 80%.
Course Compliance Requirements
OSHA 29 1926.650-653 requires a competent person to oversee all excavation and trenching job sites. This person must be certified to perform this duty.
