Petroleum Education Council (PEC) Training
Course Description
The PEC Basic Safety Awareness program is designed to provide a generic orientation for contractors that work in the Oil and Gas Industry. This PEC course is SAFE GULF accredited for all workers. It is not intended to fulfill all company training requirements, but instead provides an AWARENESS LEVEL of training.
Course Compliance Requirements
The program meets the criteria established for T-1 training (Going Offshore for the First Time) and is specifically designed as an entry level course for employees that will be working offshore. It also meets the requirements for an orientation program for contractors of many of the Companies throughout the country. In some cases, a PEC card is required to enter an operator's facility.
Course Outline
- Basic Safety Awareness
a. Module 1: Introduction to the PEC, General Safety, Personal Protective Equipment
b. Module 2: Hazard Communications, Occupational Health, Specialized Work Procedures
c. Module 3: Fire Safety, Material Handling, 1st Aid, Environment - Petrochemical Awareness-For Plant and Pipeline Environments
a. Module 4: Process Safety Management and Associated Items - Offshore Orientation
a. Module 5: Travel, Working Offshore, Evacuation, etc. - Terrorism Response Awareness Program (T.R.A.P.)
a. Module 6: Definition of Terrorism, Security and Terrorism, Methods of Communications Implemented, Preventing Terrorism Workshop.
